About me
Formally, I am known as Dr. Jessica McNair, however, most of my clients call me Jess!
I am a Psychologist working in New-Brunswick, Canada, and have now provided therapy services for more than 8 years.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by human behaviour, from the subtle patterns that emerge in our interactions to the complex motivations that drive our choices. I’m incredibly fortunate to have built a career around this curiosity, helping others explore their inner world and make sense of the patterns that shape their lives.
In the following sections, you’ll find more about my background, areas of expertise, treatment approaches, and the core values that guide my work with each of my clients.
Thank you for being here!

My core values
At the heart of my therapy practice are core values that guide every aspect of the work I do.
These values are central to creating a therapeutic space where you feel safe, understood, and empowered.
1 / Collaboration and Empowerment
I see therapy as a partnership, where we work together to create a path forward that aligns with your values and strengths. My goal is to empower you to make informed choices and actively engage in your own healing process.
2 / Empathy and Compassion
I’m committed to offering a warm, supportive environment where you feel free to explore your thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment. Our work together also focuses on cultivating a gentle, compassionate approach to yourself, helping you face challenges with understanding and patience.
3 / Respect for Your Individuality
I approach therapy with a deep respect for your individuality, recognizing that you are the expert of your own life. I also strive to honour the complex ways in which various aspects of your identity—such as race, gender, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, ability, and more—interact and influence your lived experiences, ensuring that therapy is not one-size-fits-all but instead reflects the full scope of who you are.
4 / Commitment to Professional Growth
I am deeply committed to ongoing professional development to ensure I am providing you with the best possible care. This includes staying up to date with the latest research and treatment techniques, and engaging in self-reflection, so I can support you with evidence-based practices and fresh insights.
5 / Confidentiality and Trust
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of our therapeutic relationship. Everything we discuss remains private, allowing you to explore your thoughts and feelings freely. You can trust that your privacy is upheld.
6 / Ethics and Professionalism
I am committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethical practice, ensuring that our work together is guided by integrity, transparency, and respect. Upholding professionalism and ethics is vital for ensuring your safety and fostering an environment where healing can happen.
7 / Trauma-informed Care
Trauma-informed care is an approach to healthcare that recognizes and responds to the physical, emotional, and psychological effects of trauma. To be trauma-informed is to be sensitive to the potential for re-traumatization and to ensure that clients feel safe, respected and understood throughout their care.
8 / Confort and Lightheartedness
I believe that healing doesn’t always have to be serious, and there’s space for laughter, lightness, and even joy in our work together. I strive to create a relaxing and welcoming environment where you can show up exactly as you are.
